Riding Discipline (or lack of): MTB Marathons,Enduros,Mountainous Road Races and cruisey small old school club races.
Favourite Riding spot: My home trails in Mount Beauty and any fast flowing singletrack and monstor climbs !
Short and long term goals: Getting better and faster on the technical downhill stuff and better and faster on the uphill stuff.
Favourite Bike: My new Specialized Epic sorted through DC at The Fitzroy Revolution of course. I also have a solid relationship with my Avanti Giro road bike.
Years Racing: 7 years in total but only the last 2 more seriously. Used to cross-train for mountain running by mountain biking but now run to cross train for riding!
When did you begin cycling and why?: As a kid living in Queensland just to get around and to feel free. I was a keen climber and long ride fan even then but should have spent more time on the BMX track to get some skills!
Have you suffered any serious injuries cycling? Describe what and how: A Broken Collarbone is my only real injury. Did it on an easy recovery ride on the Mtb but have had much bigger crashes with just scratches to show for it.
Describe your greatest cycling achievement to date: Winning Stage 3 in C Grade up Hotham in the Tour of Bright. For a long term cycling fan it was a dream to be soloing to a summit win with motorbike time checks, KOM points and even kids running alongside me….aaahh good times.
Describe your worst race or cycling experience: Getting schooled and dropped in my first ever road race . Everyone said don’t lose the wheel but I only did for a few seconds! Also getting mechanicals in a race when you feel great and are racing well. You don’t get mechanicals in running so I am still getting used to this part of cycling.
Describe your favourite race: A tough 100km Marathon with monster firetrail climbs and fast flowing single track descents that finishes at a Bakery beside a Pub across the road from my hotel.
