Mt Macedon is situated just off the Calder Freeway about 60km north of Melbourne. At over 1000m it offers 3 climbs of varying steepness. Both the main road up the front of the hill (shown below) and Alton Road will get your body and lungs into over drive while the Woodend Road is a bit more relaxed.
A heap of other quiet country lanes and some nice cafes make this a great place to spend a day exploring. Why not bring the MTB along too and hit up the Wombat Track while you’re in the area?
