There is some great riding and racing to be had near Woodend and the Wombat loop is one of the most famous MTB rides. The main loop is about 18km but there are options for shorter or longer rides. Coming from Melbourne you need to turn off the Old Calder Hwy on to Fingerpost road prior to arriving in Woodend. Many people miss the turnoff as it is difficult to spot so make sure you find a safe place for a u-turn on the highway. You can find info on the Wombat Track here.
